Tenth Amendment – Reserved Powers
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
It certainly seems simple enough, doesn’t it? After all, you can’t have a Union without uniformity regarding commerce between states, with foreign nations, with different currencies. It’s just common sense, right? No…The recognition that the scope of the commerce power has expanded so far beyond the original understanding of that power’s boundaries that any attempt to adhere strictly to its original meaning today would likely be futile, but NOT inappropriate. Just because Roosevelt got away with the New Deal, and the “Great Society” *choke, choke* doesn’t give the ANY branch of our government to tell us what we have to buy, ever! Whether it’s as important as healthcare or as trivial as widgets. And further, to even remotely entertain the idea that the Founding Fathers would go for these obvious violations of individual liberty, the 1st Amendment, and the 10th Amendment, is absolutely absurd. Only an ass could even remotely think such things, or a brilliant manipulator with a bigger agenda. The Constitution doesn’t get reworked every time you get some dim bulb with a “bright” idea for the expansion of government in the White House. Furthermore, I have lived in America all my life, and many times uninsured. There are so many programs out there already, between, Medicaid, Medicare, Free and Sliding Scale Community Clinics, The Hillburton Act, Prescription Programs, that one would have to conclude in light of the above, in addition to its expense, these healthcare hearings aren’t about healthcare at all. It’s about how much power this President can get. And as awful as he is, imagine if someone even worse were to have that power. The star struck liberals out there need to realize that what they advocate for today, will bite them in the ass tomorrow.
